From the 23rd to 24th of May 2009, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Asia - Europe Foundation (ASEF) are cordially holding the 5th Asia-Europe Journalists' Seminar in Hanoi, which is a part of the sideline events on the occasion of the Ninth Asia - Europe Foreign Minister's Meeting (FMM9) in Hanoi.

Under the theme of "Moving Towards a Post - Crisis World", the seminar will contribute to the common efforts of the international community in order to promote cooperation on dealing with financial and global economy crisis; strengthening the spreading of information about ASEM, ASEF, Asia - Europe relations and FMM9; boosting cooperation between ASEM and the mass media, between Asian media and their European colleagues. As an important international media event, the 5th Asia-Europe Journalists' Seminar not only contributes to the common success of FMM9 but also enhances the role of Vietnam in ASEM, in particular when Vietnam is the host of  FMM9. The event also contributes to promote the images of Vietnamese people and country, reflect the Vietnamese Government’s policy of encouraging and creating favorable conditions to the development of the press.    

The two-days seminar will discuss the impact of global financial crisis on Asia and Europe as well as measures to promote Asia - Europe cooperation in order to cope with the crisis and the development of a post-crisis world. 

High-ranking financial officials of Vietnamese Government, journalists, scholars, well-known financial experts of Vietnam and other ASEM members will attend the seminar.
